Spring 2021
As expected, I am very glad I continued the AIS mentorship program this semester. I have been able to connect with even more students in AIS and work on professional development activities with my mentor. She helped me set goals for the semester, edit my resume and LinkedIn, and plan my courses for next year. I was introduced various current and future eboard members through a networking challenge and had a zoom call with another mentorship pairing. This program has been a great way for me to continue growing my network within the MIS community and meet new people despite being online. I’ve made such a great connection with my mentor this past year and learned so much from being a part of this program the past two semesters. I would encourage any new MIS major or AIS member to participate in this amazing program geared towards expanding your network and developing your professional self for the future.
Fall 2020
I loved being involved with the AIS mentorship program this fall. Switching my major to MIS while being in an online environment was difficult at first when trying to meet new people in the community. However, though this program program, I was introduced to various students on the eboard, met many other members of AIS, and even connected with professors. Now I feel far more comfortable at AIS events because of all the familiar faces, and expanded my network tremendously. My mentor was able to guide me through how PRO points work, getting involved with AIS, and helping me make scheduling decisions. Having my mentor always there to answer all of the (many) questions I had was so beneficial especially being new to the major. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of this program, and I know the connections I’ve made and all I have learned will benefit me greatly in the future.
