Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival

I collaborated on this project with Nicole Kish, a graphic design student and our advisor Richard Flanagan.

The scope was to update the design of the site, update the domain name of the site, and create documentation to teach our clients how to make these changes themselves for future festivals.

The result of this project was a fully functioning site design, and new tools to help the PAAFF team when they decide to update the site.

Here is the site URL: https://paaff.org/

This project taught me a lot about web security protocols. We were tasked with changing the domain name. When I updated the domain name, I did not get an SSL certificate for the domain. An SSL Certificate demonstrates the ownership of the domain name. Without the SSL, browsers then marked the site as malicious, and it was impossible to access. I had to work quickly to reverse the domain change and get an SSL for the new domain. That process of finding where the original domain was located taught me a lot about server-side hosting. After finding that information, I added an SSL certificate and manually updated the domain on the site’s server. We were then able to use Elementor to update the site’s design. Once we finished the design, we then spent some time creating and going over the clients’ documentation.
