Created a Slack Channel and Zoom Meetings For Staff
My goal in this activity was to help my coworkers and management at The Abington Club and Wet Whistle Bar and Grill remain connected and able to maintain effective communication during this pandemic. This resulted in me creating a slack channel for management and employees to help them communicate. I also provided instruction over the phone to multiple older staff members on how to operate the chat. The channel allowed management to update us on the status of the lock down and their plans for the restaurant going forward. In addition to the chat, I helped the management team and some employees use Zoom to conduct face to face meetings over the computer. Management took advantage of these meetings to discuss how they can conduct business during this pandemic, as the face to face setting allowed them to communicate more effectively. This volunteering helped the entire staff to stay connect during a very difficult time for us. Through this experience I have learned how, when used effectively, modern technology can be used to connect many people from many different locations and bring them all together in a way that is helpful to everyone.
