Scholastic Executive Meeting
Thanks to Temple IBIT, I was able to attend a small panel of Scholastic executives hosted in one of Fox’s lecture halls. At this panel, five executives from Scholastic talked to us about how Scholastic operates and what role MIS professionals play in their business. Additionally, they presented many employment opportunities that Scholastic is offering and gave insight on how we as students could get involved in these roles. Panels such as this one provide MIS students with a great opportunity to connect directly with professionals in the industry and show their interest in MIS roles offered to prospective employees. Networking is a vital aspect of a career search and these panels are the most simple way a student can get into contact with current industry professionals. Through this event, I learned that Scholastic heavily relies on MIS roles for data analytics and business analysis, as well as that they are always looking for qualified young professionals to join their team. They have a multitude of internship programs for all aspects of the MIS field, and offer a fantastic opportunity to learn while working which is vital as a student who is still honing there skills in the MIS field. All students should take the opportunity to attend a panel such as this when available to them.
