I will dedicate class time today to preparing for next week’s exam.
I will also direct students to set up their Anaconda software for next class.
Finally, if you need help figuring out where to keep stuff on your computer, I suggest this video: https://youtu.be/KWrHI1bXuRs

I will start class with some remarks about the last ICA and your first assignment.
Then… I will move on into the SQL “Part 2” / Advanced material.

In class today I will complete the first SQL presentation I have been working through all week.
I will start class by addressing the most common mistake I saw in your last ICA.
You have assignment 1 due this evening at 11:59 pm.

Class today will start with a short presentation about the AIS student organization.
That will be followed by a few remarks about the last ICA (intended to help you with homework assignment 1.)
After that, we will continue to learn about SQL.
For students who, for whatever reason, can’t get SQL installed and working on their laptops, some resources are available:
And *I think* the TECH center computers have MySQL Workbench installed as well.
Assignment 1 is due 2/2 at 11:59 PM.

Today we wrapped up in-class activity number two. Students are expected to complete in class activity #2 by this evening at 11:59 PM.

Hello all –
We will work on an in-class activity today. This activity will require students to use MySQL Workbench.
If you are a Mac user, I strongly recommend that you follow along using https://owllab.temple.edu
I will (out of consideration for the Mac users) use Owl Lab as I present to the class today.
Windows PC users, you have a real advantage here. 🙂
If we don’t complete the whole activity today, students will be expected to wrap up the incomplete portions of the activity on their own, outside of class, this weekend.

Here’s what we did on Wednesday – we wrapped up Monday’s lecture and students turned in a paper in-class activity.

In class today we will begin looking at some specifics about relational databases. (See the schedule for the slides.)
Students should get MySQL Workbench set up on their computers (instructions are on the “Links” menu here.)
If you have a problem, please post it to the Canvas discussion post dedicated to MySQL Workbench installation issues.
