Semester Project Overview: Pound Cake

Your semester project is Pound Cake, a cosmetic company focused on providing authentic cosmetics geared towards complementing every skin tone. Pound Cake’s mission is to highlight and represent all ethnicities as well as disrupt today’s generally accepted beauty standards.  Pound Cake is looking to create a web presence and platform that will enable their potential customer base to get a true feel for their cosmetics as well as educate the community on various topics.

This semester, we will be working with Pound Cake to create the digital tools needed to serve their prospective and current clients as well as members of the community at large.

Each team will explore and focus on 1 of the below areas, although overlaps are possible.

  1. Developing technology enabled web and mobile tools for a true, virtual representation of their cosmetics
    1. To enable prospective clients the ability to get a true sense of how the cosmetics will look based on their skin tone
    2. To enable prospective clients the ability to see the model move, blink and act realistically while wearing Pound Cake cosmetics
    3. Determine what types of prospective clients are utilizing this service and what is important to them
  2. Developing technology enabled web and mobile tools for E-commerce
    1. Create account management tools for clients that will enable customers to create accounts, save preferences and log in
    2. Create tools for displaying products, shopping, buying and subscribing to the online cake club and newsletter
  3. Creating educational web and mobile tools
    1. Provide the opportunity for customers and potential customers to learn more about a wide array of topics and social issues
    2. Create blog features that will enable the Pound Cake community the ability to interact, blog, provide pictures and dialog that coincide with the team’s values.
