IBIT Mentorship Program
I participated in the IBIT mentorship program in Fall 2021. I matched with an industry professional with whom I engaged throughout the semester. I had the opportunity to ask questions regarding their position and the life lessons that they learned throughout their career. Sukumar Narayanan, my mentor, helped enhance my industry knowledge. We discussed topics such as; strengths and weaknesses, internship, and growth mindset. For example, I highlighted public speaking as one of my weaknesses. He advised me to go out of my way to practice the skills to overcome stage fright. At the end of our meeting, he suggested a list of books that would guide me to grow and develop personally and professionally. Overall, it was a great experience. I was able to connect with a subject matter expert, with whom I had a detailed one-on-one discussion about topics that were relevant to me.
