5) I learned a lot about how to make sure my resume does not get filtered out by company’s Applicant Tracking System. Part of it is making sure that your resume is individualized for each job application. By doing this, you can make sure that your application includes keywords that each company’s ATS is looking for. It’s also important to keep the formatting simple and not have any extra markings or anything that could effect the formatting. This is important as the ATS will automatically pull out information based on how your resume is laid out, so if it’s organized in an unexpected way it may miss or take incorrect information.

6) This is something important when perusing any career in any field. It’s important to know your resume is being seen by actual people and gaining actually considered rather than filtered out by an automated system. As I look for internships over the summer and a career in the future, these skills good prove to be very valuable.
