Research on Leadership
Over the summer of 2015, I was awarded a merit stipend by Temple University to conduct research. Working in partnership with a fellow Fox student, I studied the relationship between leadership and financial success of tech firms.
We profiled sixty companies that have gone public since the year 2000, devoting special attention to the CEOs who led each company through the IPO process. We assigned each CEO two of six distinct leadership styles, and charted the financial performance of the company under the CEO’s leadership by observing the behavior of the post-IPO stock price. The final step was group companies based on CEO leadership style and calculate average long term IPO return for each group. We concluded that pace-setting leaders are the most effective.
