She talked about how she obtained her managing position. She shadowed her managers first to learn how to do a job properly. She always tried to branch out to every department in the company. She tried to understand how every department worked together. She shared the challenges she faced in the workplace. The technological side and managerial side. She mainly brought up the accessibility aspect of creating technology. She discussed the misconceptions that higher-ups gave on accessibility and how employees deal with them. She said the most important skills that are needed are: coding, HTML, communication, leadership, and awareness. Her industry offers free workshops and thats also how she started out as well. She has a good life work life balance and her company offers learning new skill opportunities. She mostly works remote and comes into the office 2 times a week at least. She described the differences between working at a consultant company and Walmart. She said she was introduced to accessibility more during consulting. She laid down her job search experience during the pandemic. She started with CSPD and said she faced lots of rejection. She tailored each resume and application to each position she applied for. She said networking was a big part of how she got to where she is today. This gave me some insight on what kind of career i could have as an MIS major. It helped me figure out the accurate skills i need to achieve her success.
