Alexion Data Analytics Challenge
My teammate and I placed 2nd place for Analysis in the Alexion Analytics Challenge, sponsored by IBIT + Alexion. For this competition, we cleaned, analyzed, and visualized Alexion pharmaceutical data to answer the question \\\’What makes rare disease clinical trials successful?\\\”. We were then selected to compete on November 12th against 11 other top ranked teams, and we placed 2nd to win a cash prize.
Participating in the challenge this year pushed us to leverage new tools for our data cleaning, refine all of our processes (for example, we implemented changelogs in order to keep detailed records of all changes made in analysis+cleaning) and changed the formatting of our final graphic to include captions + explanations to make it so the graphic could be understood without explanation.
This experience built upon the skills I learned in my MIS classes since competing in the same competition last year- especially concerning Tableau Prep and more efficient use of Tableau. I would like to continue doing data analytics during my future career, so this was a crucial experience in practicing using the skill sets needed for that career.
