Acelero Learning: Human Resources Intern Spring 2014
Acelero Learning is a Head Start funded program in the Camden Philadelphia Area that works with low income children. The mission of Acelero Learning is to bring a relentless focus on positive child and family outcomes to close the achievement gap and build a better future for children, families, and communities served by the Head Start program. During my time at Acelero Learning, I worked in the Human Resources Department, which is responsible for managing approximately 200 employees. During my time, I was responsible for managing employee files, including keeping up to date with state and federal regulations. I also used the ADP and Taleo systems to help actively recruit and screen potential employees as well as create company records for new hires. I also gained hands-on recruiting experience at job fairs. In addition, I also completed a research project for the company where I analyzed and organized exit interview data and suggested improvement plans for both better exit interview strategies as well as lowering employee turnover.
Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and Treatery: Shift Manager Spring 2009 to present
Maggie Moo’s mission is to offers super- premium ice cream and award-winning customer service. I began working at Maggie Moo’s at the age of 16 and by exhibiting hard work and high standards, I was soon promoted to shift manager with in a matter of months. My regular job duties include managing employees on shift: putting them on breaks, making sure they are displaying excellent customer service and making sure their work is up to standards and follows all regulatory health codes. It is also my job to manage customer relations and soothe any problems that may arise throughout my shift. At the end of the night I am responsible for reconciling the cash drawer as well as entering deposits into our system and preparing the bank deposits. In addition to these regular duties, I also take it upon myself to come up with new exciting products and marketing strategies for our franchise. Some of my most successful ideas include the individual sale of specialty ice cream sandwiches and the use of Buttercream frosting as an ice cream mix-in.
