Highmark Blue Shield – Highmark Health Solutions, Inc.

Enterprise Release Management

 

thThe Enterprise Release Management department at Highmark Blue Shield coordinates projects (applications) and project tasks as they progress through the software development lifecycle, from project initiation, to production, to implementation. Through each stage of the lifecycle, communication with project managers regarding the status of his/her projects is essential for ensuring a timely project release.

 

Responsibilities – Enterprise Release Management Intern (6/2/14-8/22/14)

After eliciting requirements from various team members, my primary objective was to identify processes that required large amounts of manual intervention to complete and then create programs to automate these tasks. To automate tasks, I coded programs in Visual Basic for Applications, which can be used in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Project. Throughout my time in Enterprise Release Management, I have implemented five different process improvements yielding a benefit of $27,658.84 annually while decreasing necessary manual intervention required to complete various tasks.

  • Assuming the role of a Business Analyst, eliciting requirements and implementing technical solutions to overcome the issues experienced by the business and technical teams.
  • Foundational coding language experience in PHP (MIS3501) acted as a gateway to learning and utilizing other coding languages.
  • Networking aptitude is easily transferrable from academic environment to professional/business environment.
