Government Services Intern, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. During the Summer of 2013, I worked at Penndot as a Government Services Intern. Working with a team of 10-12 co-workers, my duties included general road maintenance, flagging, and stockpile organization. While flagging, I learned about the importance of administering certain safety procedures which aided in accident prevention. In addition to safety, I learned how to abide by environmental sustainability standards enforced by SEMP, or the Strategic Environmental Management Program. This position offered me a great deal of experience as well as opportunities to advance my employment within the state system.
Leasing Agent/Community Assistant, Ambling Management Company. Last year, I worked as a Leasing Agent in the student housing market for Ambling Management Company. A prominent, Southern-based company, Ambling property management is one of the leading providers of innovative, high quality, professional property management services in the country. I was positioned at two properties within the Philadelphia district named Oxford International Village and Beech International Village. The job experience I have received from this position surpasses any other job position I have held in that I am utilizing my knowledge of business processes as well as obtaining fundamental knowledge on the many aspects of property management.
Golf Merchandise Salesperson, Felicita Garden Resort & Spa. For the past 3 years and during every Summer vacation I have worked in the Golf Shop at Felicita Garden Resort & Spa, home of the LPGA Futures Tour. As a Golf Merchandise Salesperson, my numerous job duties were carried out at the operational, day-to-day level. The job duties that I perform are very beneficial to my professional development, but perhaps the most beneficial part of my job is my ability to network through the members of the golf course. Most members are retired lawyers, accountants, high level executives, and even owners of their own businesses who are able to reference/recommend potential careers to me.
Sanitation Engineer, Today’s Choice Cleaning Services. As my first part-time job, I cleaned the office building of Deloitte Consulting Firm in Harrisburg, PA. This taught me a lot of advantageous lessons that helped me sculpt my future career decisions. I cannot underestimate the importance of this job due to the fact that it exposed me to the operational, managerial, and executive-level jobs that exist in every successful firm.
