Cigna
I worked as a project manager in group insurance, which supports the disability, accident, critical illness, life, vision, and dental lines of business.
I was responsible for moving 27 clients over to a new billing system, because the preceding system was not supported in the latest version of internet explorer and some of the clients ran into problems. I communicated between the business leads and the supporting IT groups to make sure the project stayed on-target for both scope and deadlines. Additionally, I prepared a decommission plan for the old billing system to take place once all of the active clients moved on to the new system.
My internship was a part of one of Cigna’s many Early Career & Diversity Leadership Programs, known as TECDP (Technology Early Career Development Program). There were approximately 70 total interns in TECDP this past summer. A large part of the internship experience involved participating in the TECDP intern innovation project, where we were responsible for building a technology solution that solves a business problem. I lead a team of 8 developers and designers to build an e-coaching solution for Cigna Behavioral Health.
Throughout the internship, I developed many key Project Management skills, such as: an understanding of agile methodology, project planning, cross-function business/IT communication, effective meeting facilitation, 360 degree feedback modeling, and conflict resolution best practices.
