How to ensure ethical use of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
I attended the webinar on ethical data usage and AI, hosted by the MIS department. The speaker was David Kaganovsky, the CTO of Wavemaker. Many topics were discussed within the webinar including the ‘what can go wrong’ aspect within AI, using the example of Tay.ai, AI-powered ‘killing machines’, and Cambridge Analytica. I found it very interesting how the verbiage used within marketing and disclaimers displays a certain image, a misconception, of how data is used. This topic was interesting to me, as I learned about AI in my previous MIS courses, but this provided a more in-depth explanation of how ethics plays an integral role in the capturing of data and usage of AI.
