HTTP Essential Training

This course was essential training on HTTP as used in web development and network protocols. The skills were both technology and professional, as the application spans both of those domains.

The course started by defining HTTP and it’s use cases, as well as the HTTP flow and other useful terminology. The next big topic was requests and responses, which are two ends of the HTTP process. Requests are what the user/client/server sends, using HTTP, and responses are what comes back after a request is made. Responses can vary in data contained, but the formatting is standardized based on HTTP.

The final topic was HTTP headers, which help give further information about requests and responses. This can help with clarifying data, mentioning where the data is coming from or came from, and the purpose. In addition, cookies and caching were covered in this module, which are tools for storing information.

This activity relates to my career goals. I plan on going into something in the web service, web development, or cloud computing fields. HTTP is used in virtually every space in technology if it goes through the internet, so understanding these concepts thoroughly will help enhancing my work performance.
