Corporate Events
In February of 2012 I was invited to attend the PricewaterhouseCoopers eXplore program. This program was an exclusive one day event held at the PwC Philadelphia office. The program was comprised of interactive activities and training sessions aimed at developing teamwork, strategic thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and leadership skills. At this event I networked with PwC professionals and learned about the Accounting profession. I had the opportunity to learn about future employment opportunities at the firm and meet some of the top performing students in the Greater Philadelphia area.
In March of 2012 I was invited to participate in the Ernst and Young Career Premier event. This event was held at the E & YPhiladelphia office and was comprised of an array of topics including business etiquette and resume development. At this event I networked with Ernst and Young professionals and recruiters. I had the opportunity to meet high performing students in the Philadelphia area and learned a lot about the risk assurance practice within the firm.
In October of 2012 I participated in the PricewaterhouseCoopers xTax case competition. This was an international case competition. Over 4,000 other students from 84 colleges and universities competed in this event. This was a team based competition and it involved developing an international tax strategy for one of PwC’s clients. As a team we needed to develop a proposal letter and powerpoint presentation explaining the best way for PwC’s clients to allocate their intangible assets for tax benefit reasons. This competition took hours of research and preparation. It exposed me to the complexity of international tax codes and was a great opportunity to improve my presentation skills. During this event I had the opportunity to learn about high-level tax policy issues and compete for cash prizes at the local and national levels. Also, I had the to connect with PwC professionals who provided mentoring for my career pursuits.
