Applied Cybersecurity Ethics: Privacy, AI, and Emerging Threats
Through this course, I gained valuable knowledge into the ethical challenges associated with cybersecurity and related technologies. I learned the importance of maintaining privacy, fairness, and transparency when implementing AI and data-driven solutions, as well as the need to address potential biases to ensure inclusivity and equity. This course used the example of the need to balance anonymity with verification when implementing whistleblower reporting systems to protect privacy while taking action on valid concerns. Accountability, transparency, and collaboration are essential for building trust and resilience in cybersecurity systems. Additionally, understanding the importance of respecting human rights, privacy, and diversity has widened my perspective on decision-making in complex scenarios. These lessons will be useful in my upcoming cybersecurity class, where I hope to apply this knowledge to real-world challenges, develop ethical solutions, and prepare for a future career that prioritizes integrity and responsibility.
