Staying Sharp: How to Keep Growing in Your Tech Career

This course focused on professional skills around growing a career in tech and is delivered by a temple professor. He first lists things to reflect in order to know where you want to go like, knowing your strengths, interests, and weaknesses. He then talks about smart goals, meaning specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound. Making goals in this format can help you with reaching them more often. Next he talks about how important it is to build your network. He touches specifically on the importance of a mentor. He then talks about how as you grow, less positions will be available. He talks about how it is important to leverage internal opportunities in your company to use to your advantage when you eventually leave. Another notable topic was showcasing your work and making people aware of your abilities. Your mentor should be someone whos achieved your goals and you can build a  meaningful connections. Being in a community could be beneficial, whether in person or online. I will be able to directly apply this knowledge to my own career because of how applicable it is. I will take note of a lot of the things he said and try to integrate them into my routine.
