Internship at Nooter Construction

Since the summer of 2016 I have been working for Nooter construction as both a full-time intern during the summer, and a part-time intern during the school year. During my time with Nooter, I have worked at both Sunoco natural gas refinery in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, and Phillips66’s Bayway oil refinery in Linden, New Jersey. My primary tasks at Nooter focus on data control, and analytics.

One item I was tasked with at Nooter was creating and maintaining the materials intake database. I created both in-depth spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, and an extensive database in Microsoft Access to effectively track the material needed and received. Large amounts of digital data, piping spreadsheets, and isometrics drawings were scrubbed for relevant information, entered and sorted so that they could INtbe accessed and reported with ease.

I also work closely with Nooter’s IT department. I often serve as on on-site IT specialist, solving day-to-day computer issues on co-worker’s computers and doing routine maintenance. During the summer of 2017 I also assisted our senior IT director in the installation of a new wireless system in our offices at Bayway refinery.

My time at Nooter has taught me very much, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity they’ve provided to learn more about the more ‘unconventional’ applications of my MIS related-skills. Heavy industry construction may not be the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions MIS, but the applications truly are everywhere.

I have included both my offer letter, and my viewpoint report for hours worked to validate the extent of my employment.
