Democratization of XR: Extending Reality for the Public

- At this event, I learned about several different VR companies and uses of augmented reality. However, I have to mention that Night Kitchen was my favorite. Night Kitchen is an augmented reality that is partnering with different historical sites and museums to enhance the visitor\’s experience. For example, the examples they has were for the Edgar Allen Poe house, in which you point the tablet at a certain image, which triggers a live reading of Poe\’s works plus augmented reality graphics. It\’s like a scavenger hunt, with collectible \”stickers.\” I would love to use Night Kitchen at museums or historical sites because it engages the visitor rather than distracting the visitor.
- The event relates to our major because we have to learn about and understand how new technologies can be used in business applications.
