PTW19 Kickoff Festival

  1. PTW19 Kickoff Festival, Linode
  2. Friday May 3rd in Old City, Linode HQ
  3. PTW is Philly Tech Week. First of all, I learned about a company called Linode, which provides cloud hosting and Linux servers. In short, they can help provide the infrastructure to launch distributed applications, hosted services, and websites. Their services are useful for deploying PaaS on a scalable infrastructure. Also, Linode’s services are focused on helping their customers easily collect, store, process, and analyze big data. They are currently working to add GPU and Object storage functionalities to their services. Next, I learned a little bit about Technical.ly Philly, which is a blog dedicated to covering trends, trends, and people related to the local technology community. Without attending this event, I wouldn’t know this blog existed. I will be following this blog so I can stay updated about the local technology community,  new trends, and upcoming events.
  4. As MIS professionals, it’s important to network with other professionals in related fields. The great thing about the kickoff is that it gives everyone a casual opportunity to network. Also, I discovered Technical.ly Philly, which I will continue to follow in order to grow my knowledge about the local technology community. Finally, it’s good to learn about different local technology companies. For example, I didn’t know about Linode before this event. It’s important because as a professional, it’s good to know what resources and services are available in the local community.
