“The Cure for Impostor Syndrome” by Pete Mockaitis

“The Cure for Impostor Syndrome” was a short podcast provided by LinkedIn Learning, hosted by Pete Mockaitis featuring Dr. Valerie Young. In this course, Dr. Valerie Young spoke about the mental trap of being an imposter in the workplace. When people are imposters, they feel their work is never good enough. Most have a very fixed perspective of their work, so they struggle to acknowledge their achievements. I learned that imposter syndrome is just a mindset, and by altering the way you think while feeling like an imposter, you can slowly stray away from feeling like one. This podcast really opened my eyes, and although I do not personally suffer from imposter syndrome, this podcast gave great advice to reassure me that I am not perfect and that I will make mistakes. It reminded me that I must not fear failure, but must think of fear, as excitement. I can not only use this advice when working on my assignments in class but also in the future when I am working with others in the workplace.
