The Dow Chemical Company

Business Intelligence Reporting Intern: May 2014 – August 2014

During my internship at Dow, I worked on the Diamond Systems Reporting team. Our team supports a solution to provide our internal customers with a single point of access to information they need to make better decisions with more confidence. This solution includes high-level dashboards, analytical tools, and detailed and transactional reports. Throughout the summer, I was responsible for two main projects:

  • Revamping the Report Catalog:  The goal of this project is to improve existing resources and provide additional resources to end-users by making pertinent information about training, data availability, security, support, etc. more easily accessible, consistent and clear. To obtain this goal, I updated existing content to reflect updated information and redesigned the navigational tabs to provide more direct, abundant, and accurate information about topics directly related to DSR. This solution impacts over 14,000 DSR users.
  • 2014 Diamond Systems Reporting Improvement Survey: The goal of this project was to retrieve and analyze user feedback to identify areas for improvement. To obtain this goal I conducted a company-wide survey on 1,000 end-users experience with DSR. The survey rendered over 30% response rate. I conducted qualitative and quantitative analysis on the responses in order to suggest future improvement projects in current focus areas and identify new focus areas.
