Extra Curricular Activities

I am a motivated and driven student with the desire to learn. In addition to learning hard skills in my classes, I also engage myself in various organizations in hopes of acquiring soft skills that will enhance my contribution to the success of a company in the future.

Alpha Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. (ASR)
Secretary of Education

Alpha Sigma Rho is an Asian-interest sorority that emphasizes Asian American Unity by promoting Asian awareness within Temple’s campus and the community. It stands strong on the four pillars of academic excellence, interpersonal growth, moral development and strength in unity.

Because academic excellence is one of our four pillars, I played a crucial role in helping sisters pursue an above average level of academic excellence. As the Secretary of Education, I kept track of all of the grades and GPAs of all of the members within our organization, making sure no one falls behind in their studies when they are actively participating in our organization’s events and workshops. I have also scheduled bi-weekly meetings to monitor the academics of sisters who showed signs of faltering GPAs, to talk to them about their study habits, what they can do to improve their time management and give them various tips on note taking and studying. In addition, I also reach out to campus recruiters to prepare and organize workshops for sisters, to teach them more on professional development and to give them a better insight on what recruiters look for in an individual while recruiting. Along with that, I also scouted out for many scholarships and internships that are applicable to our sisters and encouraged them to apply. As the Secretary of Education for ASR I was able to raise the caliber of academics and studying to a new standard and reinforce the importance of academics as well as professional development.

Vietnamese Student Association (VSA)
Event Coordinator

The Temple University Vietnamese Student Association is an organization composed of a diverse group of students who shares the same vision of spreading Vietnamese cultural awareness within the university’s campus and community.

My role as the Event Coordinator of the Vietnamese Student Association is to plan fun and organized cultural events and activities that focus on giving members exposure to the Vietnamese culture. Along with being educational and fun, these events are also engaging, entertaining and interactive, so our diverse members can get to know each other and build close bonds. After becoming the Event Coordinator for VSA in the spring of 2014, I was able to increase the attendances rate by 50% from the past semesters.

Temple University Greek Association (TUGA)
Delegate for Alpha Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc.

The Temple University Greek Association governs the four Greek councils within Temple’s Campus. Altogether, these councils are made up of 31 different organizations that consists of over 1,200 undergraduate students. The purpose of Temple University Greek Association is to establish, maintain, and invigorate the Greek community and to promote, assist, and improve the University and the surrounding community.

As the TUGA Representative for Alpha Sigma Rho Sorority Inc., I acted as a liaison between my sorority and the 30 other organizations within TUGA. I attended bi-weekly meetings and communicated any news and announcements, such as our current events, fundraiser, or workshops, that our organization would have at that the time. Along with that, I have also taken notes on other events and present campus happenings hosted by any of these organizations and communicated it back to ASR. I also got the chance to expand my network by mingling with other delegates for other organizations at these meetings.

I am humbled to say that out of the multiple candidates applying for the position, I’ve been selected to become TUGA’s new Chief Financial Officer for the following Fall semester. I look forward to planning, budgeting, and determining the financial needs for the 31 organizations within TUGA and its 1,200 undergraduate students.
