Field Data Collection and Mobile GIS: Digital Tools for Research in the Field
I participated in a workshop on modern mobile data collection techniques using smartphones and tablets. The session covered how to design and deploy digital surveys with KoBoToolbox, a humanitarian-focused platform for creating robust data collection forms, as well as how to use QField, a mobile GIS application that brings QGIS functionality to the field. The workshop explored survey design best practices, offline data collection strategies, GPS integration, photo and multimedia capture, and seamless data synchronization with desktop systems. This experience equipped me with practical tools for conducting efficient and reliable fieldwork, whether for research projects, community-based data collection, or spatial analysis in remote environments.
