- Volunteer Work
I am always enthused about helping the community. As an ardent social worker, I believe in giving back to the community in order to create an impact in the lives of people. It always gives me great joy whenever I know I have been a part of a particular cause that enhances the progress of the society.
I was a participant in last year’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program; an IRS program aimed at helping low to medium income tax payers complete their annual tax returns at no expense. I am happy whenever my clients smile and thank me when they received their return because I feel like I have made a little impact in someone’s life.
Back in Nigeria, I used to volunteer at an orphanage called Children of Faith Orphanage during the weekends, where I helped out in feeding the babies, teaching the children Math and English, and sometimes play soccer with them. Despite their circumstance, these children were happy because of the love, care and support they were shown by the community and I am delighted to have been a part of that.
- Baking
During my free time, I enjoy baking. Baking has always been one of my hobbies ever since I was a child. I usually make baked goods for the Student Professional Organization called National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) during their bake sale. There is possibly nothing as good as eating a yummy red velvet cake. Below is the link to one of my favorite websites where I learn some new tricks, ideas and recipes.
