Career Wardrobe

I stumbled upon this month-long volunteer opportunity for Career Wardrobe during my senior year of high school and through this volunteering, I was able to help many women for a good cause through the combination of fashion and business. Career Wardrobe is the nation’s largest independent, community-based nonprofit organization serving to help women transition into the workforce by providing free and low-cost clothing and career strategy support. Everyday, we encounter women who struggle to afford business appropriate outfits and it is our job to help them find outfits, but also improve their confident to go out into the workforce. My job was to greet 3-5 clients daily and help them through their appointment finding work appropriate outfits that fit their style as well as job. I was able to connect with them on a personal level and really got to know and understand them. I was more than happy to help them and helping them made my day. For clothes that gets donated to us and we can not use, we donate them to Goodwill to give them to people who need it. I also helped with maintaining a visually appealing environment, such as window displays and the work area.
