Association for Information Systems
The Association for Information Systems is the student professional organization for MIS majors. I joined this organization during the fall of my sophomore year right after declaring MIS as my major. AIS holds meetings every Monday from 12:00-12:50 and workshops every Friday during the same time frame. These meetings often host guest speakers from companies in Philadelphia that discuss their experiences working in IT. Even though not every speaker is looking to recruit students for full-time or internship opportunities, they always offer advice to students who may have specific questions relating to IT careers.
Being involved in AIS has helped me improve my networking and communication skills. This fall, I will hold my first AIS position as VP of Fundraising. I look forward to working with the other AIS officers and hope I can be valuable asset to the team.
