Mentorship Program Takeaways
Joining the AIS Mentorship Program as a Mentor during the fall semester of my junior year was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Through the program I was matched with two students who were new to the MIS major and, like me, were also majoring in Accounting. I was able to offer advice on topics including class difficulty, finding internships, obtaining PRO Points, and managing time. The students, in turn, were able to provide me with thought provoking questions, prompting reflection on my time with AIS. Overall, I would say this program has instilled leadership values in me by increasing my ability to help guide others through a difficult, sometimes scary time in their lives. It also helped teach me the value of self-reflection, which helps you see where you’ve come from and where you should be looking to go.
