American Marketing Association
Overview: I have been a member of Temple University’s Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) since fall 2013. With over 200 members, AMA is one of the largest student professional organizations (SPOs) in the Fox School of Business. AMA provides opportunities including networking, professional development, community service, and industry experience.
My involvement: Throughout my sophomore year (Fall 2013 – Spring 2014), I was involved in both the art and membership committees and gained experience in Photoshop, Hootsuite, and Google analytics. Within the membership committee, I held the position of chair of citizenship. Through this position, I worked with Dr. Smith, the chair of the marketing department, to develop a program designed to stimulate marketing students’ involvement within the Fox School of Business and enhance professional development. I created the concept, mission statement, and marketing plan, which included a brochure, posters, website content, and a social media contest. I also participated in Hershey’s Take 5 case competition with AMA. Temple took 3rd prize for the case and was awarded the Silver Collegiate Chapter Award (top 8 chapter internationally).
Cherry Consulting: In my junior year, I was chosen as the Director of Cherry Consulting, a new initiative within AMA. Cherry Consulting is a marketing consulting firm that offers clients services such as competitive and business analysis, social media management, and advertising and promotions. We work with real clients to provide solutions to marketing and communication problems. (Learn More…)
Business Honors Student Association
I have been a part of the Business Honors Student Association (BHSA) since fall 2013. BHSA is a student professional organization specifically for Fox honors students and focuses on offering professional development , networking opportunities, and much more. As a BHSA member, I take advantage of speaker series with industry professionals, networking opportunities with my classmates and employers, and community service activities.
Fashion and Business Club
I was a member of the Fashion and Business Club (FAB) from September 2013 to May 2014. FAB is an organization for students interested in a business career in the fashion industry. FAB offers members the opportunity to meet industry professionals, participate in a blog, write magazine articles, and develop skills that are unique to the fashion industry.
Projects: During my time in FAB, I participated in their fashion blog. My most popular post “The Look for Less: Rachel Zoe” showcased how to achieve Rachel Zoe’s signature bohemian style while on a budget. I also contributed to the first edition of FAB’s fashion magazine The Style Book by writing an article on URBN, inc. (pages 26 – 28).
