Risky Business

Title: Expanding the Core Competencies of a Tech Giant

Visual Presentation: Good

Content: Interesting recommendations. The entry into EHR could create significant revenue potential for Google. Using Porter’s five forces analysis, what are some of the caveats of such an entry? What threat do current players in this space pose? Thinking critically about this further, would such a venture be consistent with Google’s core mission and values, or would it be better pursued under the Alphabet umbrella, as revealed in 2015?

Dream Team

Title: Does your presetation have a title?

Visual Presentation: Composition can be improved. Pay attention to how you place text and what images you choose. PNG images or setting background to transparent can improve your impact. Some of your Google logo images are outdated.

Content: Starting with the mission is effective. Nice review of critical moments in Google’s history. Slide 3 is not very clear. Slide 4 needs further substantiation, mainly, how? Your recommendation is interesting. Using Porter’s five forces analysis, what would a venture into autonomous cars mean? What threat do current players in this space pose? Same question for smart home products. Thinking critically about this further, would such ventures be consistent with Google’s core mission and values, or would they be better pursued under the Alphabet umbrella, as revealed in 2015?

Team Gold

Title: Using Paid Search to Drive Future Growth… Without a Driver

Visual Presentation: Your background template can be improved. The Google logo is a bit aliased and the aspect ratio is slightly distorted. Use a higher resolution photo and resize the image without losing aspect ratio. Composition can be improved. PNG images or setting background to transparent can improve your impact. Some of your logo choices are outdated.

Content: Very good company analysis with a clear statement of Google’s core business and revenue drivers. Interesting recommendations for enhancing search. Your title made me think you would spend more time discussing driverless cars. Are there any ventures you think Google should take on besides improving search? Using Porter’s five forces analysis, what would such ventures mean?

Team Eclipse

Title: Googling for Answers

Visual Presentation: I would generally recommend avoiding comic sans in professional presentations. Also, the colors you chose for your title and team are a bit inconsistent with Google’s colors (more 8-bit than primary). However, both those choices made your presentation appear fun and gamey, and perhaps that was the goal. You chose a beautiful image of the eclipse. When using such strong images, I would make sure the image is always visible and not blocked by slide content. Some of your logo images are outdated.

Content: Good analysis of mission and value proposition. Competitive analysis was informative, as was your discussion of the FTC. Good SWOT analysis. Using Porter’s five forces analysis, what would ventures into portals and driverless cars mean? What threat do current players in this space pose?

Flying Foxes

Title: Connecting the Globe

Visual Presentation: Overall good, in some places composition can be a bit more polished by paying attention to alignment and justification.

Content: Starting with the mission is effective, and I like the incorporation of the ‘don’t be evil’ mantra. I think your discussion of net neutrality is very relevant. Your choice to present your recommendation by asking a question on slide 4 is effective.  Your recommendation for fiber and wifi services is consistent with Google’s core product and value proposition. Using Porter’s five forces analysis, you explored some of the challenges and roles played by competitors. Well done.

Fox Stars

Visual Presentation: Overall very good. Clean and tidy without excessive content.

Content: Good analysis of core value proposition. Interesting exploration of ventures and products that would enhance core product. Using Porter’s five forces analysis, what would ventures into IoT and PAs mean? Same question for communication services and infrastructure.  What threat do current players in these spaces pose?
