Cybersecurity Foundations: GRC
This course taught me what Governance, Risk, and Compliance is and the importance of having a GRC program in organizations because of changing regulations and the risk they face. It introduced me to many frameworks, some of which are central to cybersecurity, such as ISO 27001. One of the frameworks mentioned I had learned in my MIS 4596 course which was NIST. I believe having knowledge of these frameworks is expected within a security role. I learned what kinds of roles can be found and how being in GRC can help you move to a more technical role in cybersecurity. Additionally, there were certifications mentioned that are great for cyber and GRC roles.
