Technology Intern
- Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks)
- As a technology intern at Lower Merion School District, my responsibilities include working with the data visualization software Kibana as well as the ELK stack. During certain parts of the internship I was also responsible for helping the technicians with servicing and repairing various pieces of hardware across the school district.
- Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished)
- One of the projects that I worked on the was to create a data visualization project that displayed a heat map of which schools in the school district were sending the most requests to outside websites. Another project I worked on was to create a data visualization that displayed whether or not a LMSD user clicked through on a phishing link.
- What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience in the context of specific courses)
- I learned how to present large a mounts of data that may be difficult to understand in a simple way to the end user. What I learned in the data visualization course helped me to present the data in an aesthetically pleasing way. For example, I knew the best color combinations and which graphs or charts would work best for a praticular visualization.
