SS5 – Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt

October 25th

Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt is a product development manager for U.S. Steel. She grew up in Puerto Rico. She attended the University of Puerto Rico.  She says to get out of your comfort zone you should practice, practice, practice.  She believes in many factors for success in your career. The first factor is having many mentors. Mentors can give great advice because of the invaluable experience they have. Having many mentors will give you plenty of good advice and insight. Second is having a sponsor. A sponsor is someone who can advocate for you. It is someone that can recommend you to employers or write letters of recommendation. Third is expand your network. Fourth is realize your purpose and communication style.  Number five is be confident and authentic. Whether you are talkative or not, being authentic and confident can be felt by others. Do not try to be someone you are not. Becoming confident can mean getting out of your comfort zone and gaining skills you may be nervous to try to get.  If you find something you love and practice, you will find confidence.
