Field Data Collection and Mobile GIS: Digital Tools for Research in the Field

This workshop introduces university students and faculty to modern mobile data collection techniques using smartphones and tablets. Participants will learn to design and deploy digital surveys with KoBoToolbox, a humanitarian-focused platform for creating robust data collection forms, and discover QField, a mobile GIS application that brings QGIS functionality to the field. The session covers survey design best practices, offline data collection strategies, GPS integration, photo and multimedia capture, and seamless data synchronization with desktop systems. Perfect for researchers conducting fieldwork, student projects, or community-based data collection.

This workshop will be offered as an online session via Zoom. You must register for this workshop to receive the Zoom link via a confirmation email. On the day of the workshop, use the link to join the session.
