Intro to 3D Scanning: Creating 3D Models of Physical Space with a 360 Camera

March 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

In order to receive points;

  1. You will need to take a selfie in front of the sign/poster for the event for proof of attendance.
  2. You need to stay the entire time and the time attended will be checked with the host.

In this introductory workshop, attendees will learn the fundamentals of 3D scanning by generating point clouds from videos captured with a 360° camera.

We’ll demonstrate the basic workflows for processing point clouds, including capturing real-world spaces with an Insta360 camera, generating image sequences, importing and aligning the images, and producing point clouds suitable for digital art, VR/AR, or more. No prior experience with 3D scanning is required. The event will take place at VR Lab, Scholars Studio in Charles Library.
