What I learned: The purpose of this webinar was to become familiar with the Azure Cloud and how a firm can utilize the Azure cloud to manage and analyze its data in a big data sense. The Azure cloud is a remote hosted cloud platform similar to Amazon’s AWS in that firms can utilize it to host data servers, virtual machines and web apps remotely. This particular webinar went through the different paths IT professionals can take to familiarize themselves and become certified in the different features the Azure cloud can provide for a cloud oriented organization. One of the key certification paths featured in the webinar started with a certification in managing relational cloud databases, than ended with a high level certification in building, training and deploying virtual machines.
How the activity relates to coursework and career goal:
This webinar was pretty valuable in that it educated me in one path I can take to increase my skillset post graduation. Information Technology has many niches and it can be valuable for MIS majors like myself to explore potential niches. In this case I find cloud computing very interesting and would be very interested in further exploring this as a career.
