e-Commerce Intern

Dynasty Sports is a small company that drives their business through the sale of sports memorabilia and novelties. After years of using an inefficient system to manage sales, the owner decided to switch to the Shopify platform to allow for online sales just over two years ago. Now, after generating success with the platform, the owner wanted to produce more value from the platform by adding more product than ever before and overhauling the barcode system. The main function of the internship was to perform maintenance and updates to the store’s eCommerce website. The largest and most important project I worked on was a total overhaul of the barcode system of the store to make the barcodes of over 15,000 products and their variants compliant with Google Shopping’s standards to allow for these products to be sold through that sales channel and increase store revenues. The project relied on knowledge of data management tools like Excel and the native analytics that are present on the website that operated off of the Shopify platform. Because I didn’t have any prior experience with Shopify, learning to use the platform was one of the biggest takeaways I have from the internship. In addition to that, I also had to add a number of new products and their variants to the site. After the term of the internship I was asked to stay on part-time during school.
