Dr. Tessa Cole: The cybercrime link from those behind the door (incarcerated) to those in the free world

“The cybercrime link from those behind the door (incarcerated) to those in the free world” is a virtual event hosted by the CARE Lab, Black Girls Hack, and the Women in Cybersecurity organization. This webinar featured Speaker Dr. Tessa Cole and discussed technology’s impact on crime in society. As an attendee, I learned about the role of a deputy sheriff and how digital analysis is involved. This webinar also made clear points on how the increase in technology has led to increased crime. Considering that crime is typically underreported, the number of cybercrimes occurring is believed to be higher than what is known. An interesting point that was introduced during this event is the idea that companies that facilitate and enable criminals to conduct illegal business should be held accountable and receive punishment. Overall, this event was informative and gave relevant insights into the world of cybercrime.
