Digital Marketing: Tools of the Trade

The webinar took place on November 24th, 2020 from 7 pm – 8:30 pm. The moderator for the event was Dodge McIntosh , Community Engagement Instructor at Thinkful. In this workshop, I learned about the basics of digital marketing and how can we apply it on different products to increase sales and profit. Dodge talked briefly about the four P’s of marketing (product, price, place and promotion). Digital marketing is not that different from traditional marketing where the only key difference maker is the internet. Almost 8 out of every 10 people in US go online daily and this gives marketers room to improve and expand their strategies and campaigns. Dodge gave us an idea of how to use cross-channel campaign strategy supported by paid advertising from Youtube, Facebook & Twitter. Strategic planning, empathy, good communication and analytical thinking are some of the skills that employers are looking for in new upcoming Digital Marketers. It was intriguing to learn about different types of digital marketing like social media marketing, email marketing and content marketing and how we can improve our sales and strategy by using Google Analytics that’ll help gather customer insights/reviews and all the statistical data required to run a top marketing campaign and have a massive online presence.
