JOB TITLE: Accounting Intern

LOCATION: New York, NY, USA

In the summer of 2014, I returned to the U.S. from my study abroad and spent the two and a half months of my summer interning at Bonobos, which is an apparel brand launched exclusively on the Internet, as an accounting intern with a focus on the accounts payable part of the team. The company designs and sells a full line of menswear and has recently launched a women’s line of clothing called AYR.

Through this internship,  I was able to learn the accounts payable process in detail, assisting in tasks such as processing invoices (entering, reviewing, approving, posting, and selecting for payment using the Microsoft Dynamics ERP) and running and reviewing reports (aging reports, payment registers) in helping the company to prepare for an external audit. I was also able to learn and practice communicating with other professionals and international vendors in addition to understanding how accounts payable fits into the larger picture of accounting in the company.
