J.P.Morgan Chase & Co

JOB TITLE: Summer Analyst

LOCATION: Newark, DE

In the summer of 2015, I interned for ten weeks at J.P.Morgan Chase & Co as a summer analyst in one of its Corporate Development Programs. JPMC is a multinational banking and financial services holding company headquartered in New York City. The firm is the second largest bank in the U.S. and the third largest in the world by market cap.

Through this summer experience I gained a fairly thorough understanding of JPMC’s internally standardized SDLC process and project execution. Starting from project initiation, proceeding through requirements gathering, design, build, testing, and finishing with implementation, I learned what tasks needed to be done, whose approvals were needed, and how to document everything during each of these phases. As part of the project management team, I also gained hands-on experience in processing change controls, tracking project statuses, and planning deliverable dates. Working in a project team that is as geographically dispersed as ours was also helped me improve my communication, coordination, and organization skills. Through this program, I was fortunate to not only observe a complex project proceeding through all of the SDLC phases but also understand the bigger picture of how the project fitted into the organization’s overall goals and even make some connections to what my peer interns were doing in their respective teams.
