Community Council of the Year Community Council Members of the Year

1300 Community Council

RHA Representative

September 2012-May 2013

During my freshman year, I was the RHA Representative for the 1300 Community Council. In order to become the RHA Representative, it was necessary for me to be elected by the residents of the 1300 residence hall; I campaigned by going from door-to-door asking for votes, posting on Facebook, and posting flyers.

During my term as the RHA representative, I held many responsibilities. My responsibilities included attending community council meetings held twice a week, RHA E-board meetings held once every two weeks, RHA General Assembly meetings held once every month and any events planned at these meetings. During these meetings, we planned events for residence and addressed any concerns with the living conditions of the residence halls. As the RHA Representative, I was responsible for coordinating between the RHA and the 1300 Community Council by informing the RHA of our planned events and promoting RHA events in our residence hall. The events we planned for our residence hall were: an ice cream social, a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo, a Phillies and Sixers game and a Super Bowl viewing event. The goal of these events was to encourage a sense of community within the residence hall.

At the end of the academic year, our Community Council received several awards. We were awarded Community Council of the Year, I was rewarded Community Council Member of the year, and many of our members, including myself, received community service awards.
