Outdoor Pool Management
May 2012-August 2012
During the summer of 2012, I was a manager at Heil Pool in Easton, Pennsylvania. Although the pool was managed by the YMCA, the pool was owned by the City of Easton. Therefore, It was my responsibility to coordinate with Representatives of the City of Easton and the YMCA. I led a team of about 22 total lifeguards. During one day, 4 to 9 lifeguards were staffed at the pool. My usual task as a manager included: making sure that lifeguards were performing adequately, training lifeguards, defusing discrepancies between patrons and the staff, checking the chemicals in the pool every hour to make sure the pool was safe for use, providing attention to minor medical ailments and emergencies as well as, overseeing and assisting lifeguards providing attention to medical concerns. I had other duties outside the pool as a pool manager including: resume checking, staffing lifeguards and attending YMCA and city meetings.
Outdoor Lifeguarding
May 2011-August 2011
In the summer of 2011 I was a lifeguard at both Eddyside and Heil Pool. As a lifeguard it was my job to ensure the safety of the patrons at the pool and the safety of myself. In order to do so, it was necessary for me to enforce the rules to prevent instances such as active drownings as well as, make saves when active drownings occurred. At the end of the day, it was also my responsibility to do daily cleaning chores.
