MIS 0855 Group Project:
For the project, my group had to pick an interesting data set, perform data analysis, and present our findings to the class. We decided to perform the analysis on NBA players’ statistics from the 2015-2016 season. We put our data into Excel and them imported that Excel spreadsheet into Tableau to perform our analysis. As we analyzed the data, we formed the profile of the most average NBA players based on position. Because the media mainly focuses on superstar players like LeBron James or Steph Curry, we wanted to give credit to the average players, the foundation surrounding the superstars.

Temple Data Analytics Challenge:
For this event, AmerisourceBergen, Alexion, and Merck came up with questions for students to use data analytics to answer. My team chose Merck’s challenge: What solutions can analytics provide to the worldwide diabetes epidemic? For this challenge, we had to find data sets about diabetes to analyze online. After retrieving the data sets, our team performed data cleaning to ensure data integrity. From International Diabetes Federation, we retrieved the 2010’s diabetes rate and the predicted 2030’s diabetes across seven regions of the world: Africa, Europe, Southeast Asia, Middle East & North Africa, North America & Caribbean, South America & Central America, and Oceania. We then inserted the data into Tableau and performed the data analysis to compare the diabetes rate between two time span.
