Study Abroad Temple Rome
An Experience of a Life-Time: 
For the past 4 1/2 months I was able to live a life I could have never imagined for myself. I was lucky enough to have spent the Fall Semester abroad in Rome, Italy, where I learned so much about myself and the world surrounding me. Now that I am back, I have had some time to reflect on my experiences. While I was studying abroad, I was presented with a Peer Mentoring position for Temple Rome, working under the guidelines of the national organization called It’s On Us.
It’s On Us was recently introduced to Temple’s Main Campus in 2017, and I am currently their Prevention Captain, which means I educate and create discussions for students to be more aware of sexual assault. Before coming to Rome, I decided to get in contact with D
ean Hilary Link and ask about what programs Temple Rome has in place to combat against sexual harassment. After learning that Temple Rome never had It’s On Us introduced to their campus I was put in contact with Benedicta Djumpah the Student Life Assistant and Francesca Cuccovillo the Student Life Coordinator.
I worked closely with Benedicta and Francesca on updating It’s On Us flyers, organizing events and creating new posters and flyers. I used the Adobe Illustrator and Canva in order to create and update posters. Although this internship was not MIS specific, it did teach me a lot in the Marketing aspect of Management Information Systems, and how to create beautiful marketing materials in order to spread word of such a serious topic. By working closely with Adobe Illustrator and Canva, I was able to create flyers and posters that reached out to students and enticed them to come to our monthly meetings. I learned a great deal from this internship, like how to communicate in large groups of people, how to collaborate and use student feedback to our benefit and how to use Adobe Illustrator and Canva to create marketing materials. This internship was a great opportunity for me, and I am very grateful to have worked with such a great team of people.
