Parametric Data Entry Specialist, PEI Genesis
What I did:
- Translated pertinent information from various supplier catalogues to parametric data displayed on main website
- Extracted, transformed and loaded data to match part numbers on the website in order to engage customers on correct specification information
- Corrected and edited part images in Photoshop in order to engage online shopping experience
- Enhanced and optimized the organization of SEO and website keyword search capabilities
- Increased opportunities for parts to be dynamically searched and found on the website
After my Marketing Internship ended in mid August, I had the wonderful opportunity to be invited back as a part time employee for PEI Genesis as a Parametric Data Entry Specialist. The Data and Analytics Department noticed that I was an MIS major with experience in understanding the importance of data and with many technical skills surrounding excel macros, formulas and SQL. They extended me this work opportunity and allowed me to work from home, dedicating approximately 10-20 hours a week.
I was guided by the Marketing team and by other departments on how to understand the complexities of the electrical/electronic manufacturing world, making my transition as smooth as possible. I absorbed information about different types of connectors, the uses for those connectors and what market segments the company had. While a very intricate field to start in, I was excited by the applications connectors serve and how often we encounter them in our daily lives. I also got exposed to the more analytical part of this company, and learned a great deal from my mentor who is the Manager of Global Product Process Setups. She taught me about all of the types of ordinal and ‘talking dog’ data we have in our Access Database that match up with our 1.71 million inventory product part.
