Financial Basics Everyone Should Know

I took this course to this summer to add to my knowledge of finance and prepare a little for my financial management class. The topics covered were the basics of how banks work, different types of investments, types of insurance, and retirement plans. One important thing I learned was the difference between ETFs and mutual funds and how they are safer options than stocks because they diversify where you put your money. The insurance section described the purpose and uses of life, property, and health insurance. Another important thing I learned was about planning retirement and the benefits of getting started early. The course explained the differences between 401(k), 403(b), IRAs, and SEP accounts and the advantages of each.
